Will Self: Psychogeography on Studio360

January 14th, 2008 by Russell Davies

Studio360’s a great show. (Feeds and podcast are here.) They make an effort to find a way to talk about the arts and culture which goes beyond studio chat. This interview with Will Self about Psyschogeography is a good example. They did it on a walk into Manhattan from the La Guardia airport, they even did a Google map. I always think Self’s at his best when he’s extemporising with the real world like this. And in 10 minute chunks. MP3 here.

I think you’re right about Self in 10 minute chunks, much better that way. I loved the ‘Help Desk’ response to walking from La Guardia. I had similar on the outskirts of Sydney last week - when i told someone I’d be getting the train and walking to them from the station, he said “Fuckarama!”.
