Planning For Destruction

May 20th, 2008 by Russell Davies

Solid Radio 4 this story of the D-villages of County Durham. It stirs some human sympathy and makes you think. In some ways it’s a tiny story, bureaucracy colliding with people, made more to seem more brutal through the use of initial letters to mark a village for likely demise. A perfectly sensible system that manages to look quite inhuman. Ah, I’m waffling on, have a listen. MP3 here.

Congratulations to Caroline for the making of this programme….lest we forget. Then again I might be a bit biased…..I suffered personally from what the county planner and of course the labour controlled council of the day.
