Jarvis Cocker’s Musical Map of Sheffield

Blimey, it’s still there! Reader (listener?) Daniel Weir found the Real stream for the Jarvis Cocker show, although it ought strictly to have gone away by now, so I rushed off and hijacked it. Here it is. And it is absolutely excellent.

    It is excellent. It’s one of the best things that’s been on the radion for a good while. The producer in particular deserves a medal as it’s such a wonderfully constructed programme. If you haven’t listened to this already, do so and then do so again.

    Fantastic programme, thanks for sharing. Anybody know what the music is that’s playing when Jarvis is talking about the Moon Landing - a sort of modern classical piece, it was so familiar but I couldn’t place it.

    A smashing listen - thank you very much indeed.

    @Mike Todd: Yeah, I recognised the music but not the classical treatment. Turns out it’s Philip Glass’s adaptation of Bowie/Eno’s “Subterraneans”, as found on the album “Low Symphony”.
