The Loneliness Of The Goalkeeper

January 9th, 2009 by Russell Davies

A perfect little programme from Hardeep Singh Kohli featuring Camus, Nabokov and Bob Wilson. And drawing a compelling parallel between drummers and goalkeepers. Also reminds us of the best football song ever: "Nayim, From The Halfway Line". MP3 here.

I make documentaries in RTE radio 1 and am here surrounded by men who love talking about sport, esp football and it bores me senseless! (They know this…). But, despite myself, I found I loved this programme…it’s the first time i’ve ever been hooked on a football related topic. Humour, human interest, quirky, always entertaining and great mix.
Well done to the producer and presenter and of course the poor teenage boy on the pitch……
